Thread vein removal
LOVE your legs
Today, thousands of people are proud to show their once hidden legs.
Thread veins (also known as spider veins or telangiectasia) of the legs is a common problem, particularly affecting women.
Small, purple or red veins can form anywhere on the leg, from the top of the thigh to the ankle. Many people who have thread veins find them unsightly and embarrassing; often inhibit you wearing skirts in summer, and attempt to conceal them with clothing or resort to cosmetic cover-ups.
Today a simple treatment called sclerotherapy is successfully being used to correct unwanted thread veins of the legs.
Sclerotherapy is a procedure in which a series of small injections are administered directly into the problem area using a special solution. The solution then causes the vessel to become irritated and to close shut, preventing the blood from re-entering the vein.
The thread veins will gradually fade and within 2-8 weeks following treatment some will completely disappear. However, some areas may require several injections to achieve optimal results.
Each treatment session last approximately 30 minutes. Following each treatment the wearing of support tights for approximately 24 hours is needed, but other than this the patient resumes normal activities.
What causes thread veins?
The main causes seem to be heredity, pregnancy, hormones and minor injuries. They can also be associated with varicose veins and follow on from varicose vein surgery. In some cases a combination of sclerotherapy and laser treatment will provide the best results.
Today, thousands of people who have felt self conscious or embarrassed by unsightly thread veins of the legs are delighted with the results they are getting from sclerotherapy treatment.
